Madhuri Govindu is an LPC-Associate dedicated to welcoming you to therapy just as you are. She understands that sharing your vulnerabilities with someone new can be daunting, but she believes therapy holds the potential for healing, relief, and a fresh perspective.
Madhuri holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Substance Use Disorder, and Addictions Disorder. She is also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-TF) and is EMDR trained. As a National Certified Counselor (NCC), she is recognized for her commitment to high standards in the counseling profession and is a member of the honor societies Phi Theta Kappa and Chi Sigma Iota.
Madhuri specializes in a wide range of challenges, including trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, anger management, infidelity, and PTSD. Her multicultural background allows her to effectively address acculturation issues, providing support tailored to diverse experiences. With over 15 years as a yoga, mindfulness, and meditation teacher, she integrates these therapeutic approaches into her sessions, creating an environment infused with energy, optimism, and a path toward self-discovery.
In addition to her counseling practice, Madhuri writes for Counseling Today and enjoys traveling and meditating in her personal time. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, and Bihari, enabling her to connect with a broad range of clients.
Throughout her career, Madhuri has focused on trauma and addiction, working with both adults and adolescents. She brings her expertise from her training at various facilities, where she has provided therapy for co-occurring mental health disorders.
At Soul Steps Counseling, the treatment provided and the client experience are guided by Madhuri’s extensive knowledge and compassionate approach. She believes in harnessing the knowledge and experiences of her clients to equip them with the tools needed for meaningful change.
